Goat Milk's Magical Powers

I've written before about how goat milk can be used to treat pink eye.  And, I've had folks use our milk to try it out.  But, this week, I had occasion to try it out here at the farm for the first time.

It seems that during the damp, cold of the ice storm, Oreo developed a bit of an eye infection.  Due to road conditions, I decided to turn to the internet rather than attempt to schedule a vet visit.  Threads I found suggested he probably had a cold in his eye rather than actual pink eye, though the suggested treatment protocol is the same:  flush and clean the eye and apply an antibiotic drop.

So, I got to thinking . . . if goat milk can be a substitute for an antibiotic drop to treat pink eye in humans, could it also work to treat this?

I figured it was worth a try.  I cleaned his poor, gooey eye and squirted a few drops of milk in as he blinked like crazy.  The following morning, it looked a lot better, but I went ahead and treated it once more.  After those two treatments, his eye is completely back to normal!

Ahhhh, the magical, healing powers of goat's milk!

So, if any of you find yourselves in Oreo's situation, feel free to holler at us and potentially save a trip to the doctor and pharmacy.  We don't have does in milk right now, but I've got lots of milk in the freezer!
