Brooding On

Organizational Heaven

When we first moved to the farm over the summer, we purchased a bin storage system similar to this one for use in the barn.  And, pretty much since then I have fantasized about how great it would be for getting all my soap stuff organized.

Until we bought the above system a couple weeks ago, all these soaps and supplies were stashed in various weird spots all over the trailer.  Every time I needed to find a bar of packaged soap, for example, I could be found digging falling-apart cardboard boxes out from under our bed.  And, it took me a ridiculous amount of time to assemble all the supplies needed for a soap making session in the kitchen.

Yesterday, though, when someone texted that they'd like to stop by and pick up four bars of Pure, if I had any on hand, all I had to do was glance at the bin labeled "Pure," see that I had plenty ready to go, and grab a bag from the "Soap Packaging" bin to get it all ready to go.  And on Tuesday, this week's soap making day, prepping to make soap was as easy as grabbing the "Everyday Supplies" bin and walking to the kitchen.  Divine!

Space is, of course, limited in our trailer.  So, this monstrosity is currently housed in the living room.  I realize that many folks would balk at that.  Having no other place to keep it might even be a deal-breaker for some. But, I kind of like having it front and center.   Obviously, it's easily accessible.  But also, when life seems a bit frazzled and disorganized, one glance at this glorious shelf reminds me that at least SOMETHING in my life is in perfect order.  And, THAT, my friends, is comforting.
