Brooding On

We've Got MILK!

Signs of spring are everywhere!  The pastures are greening up.  The goat babies are hopping around.  The eggs are being gathered in record numbers.  And, there's fresh milk in the refrigerator once again!

It's been almost 3 months since we dried off the milkers just before Christmas to allow their bodies to prepare for kidding.  I'm noticing that the milking muscles in my hands are out of shape, but I'm slowly getting back into the groove.  It sure is nice to cross "milk" off the shopping list for another 9 months or so! Oh, and cheese and yogurt and cottage cheese and frozen yogurt . . .  The list of dairy delights goes on and on!

If you're in the market for some fresh raw goat milk, let me know. And, if you're considering hosting a cheese party, it doesn't get better than spring!  The milk produced by goats munching on this vibrant, green grass makes a full-flavored, delicious chevre.

Remember, according to Arkansas Milk Law, our raw goat milk is sold from the farm only.  Contact me via Facebook or email me at ashley@broodfarm.com to arrange a farm visit.  Happy spring!
