We are frequently asked whether we have any laying hens for sale. Because we run an egg-production business, it would make little sense for us to part with our layers unless we are short on space. But, there's good news for those of you who are looking to add to your flock or get into backyard chickens for the first time: we will grow them for you!

In the next week, we will place a hatchery order and plan to order extra, just for you!

We plan to order Black Stars and Barred Rocks and Araucanas (blue-egg layers)from the Murray McMurray Hatchery in the next few days. If you are interested in any of these breeds (click the links above to learn more about each), just let us know, and we'll reserve your birds for you.

We will raise the chicks through the most labor-intensive period, growing them to 12 weeks -- old enough to go home with you and live in their permanent housing. During the waiting period, you can be sure that you are set up and ready for your new chicken(s), and you are more than welcome to come visit your chickens here at the farm and watch how quickly they grow!

Like our current laying flock, these hens will be naturally-raised on pasture and will be antibiotic and hormone-free.

$12 per hen will be due at the time of pick-up.

We will be growing a limited number of extras, so be sure to reserve yours ASAP. Unfortunately, we will not be shipping any birds at this time, so you will need to be able to arrange pick-up (most likely the beginning of November).
